In February 2010 Artcurial in Paris held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings and Prints, which included the work Profil D'Auguste Barbier by Pierre-Jean David. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 434.00 45% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pierre-Jean David achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Napoléon Gobert (1807-1833), Mourant En Égypte, Remet Son Testament À Un Ami in March last year with an auction result of EUR 19,680.00.

Im Februar 2010 führte Artcurial in Paris die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings and Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit Profil D'Auguste Barbier von Pierre-Jean David zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 434,00 und damit 45% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pierre-Jean David erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Napoléon Gobert (1807-1833), Mourant En Égypte, Remet Son Testament À Un Ami im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 19.680,00.
