In April 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Paintings Sale, which included the work An Elegant Party Taking Coffee On A Terrace, A Formal Garden Beyond by Petrus Johannes van Reysschoot. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 20,900.00 (€ 26,644.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, An Elegant Party Taking Coffee On A Terrace, A Formal Garden Beyond is the most expensive artwork by Petrus Johannes van Reysschoot that we have observed at auctions so far.
