In April 2008 Christies in London held the auction Old Masterand British Pictures, which included the work Roses, Daffodils, Peonies, Lilies, A Tulip, Chrysanthemums And Other Flowers In A Sculpted Urn On A Stone Plinth by Peter Frans Casteels. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 14,900.00 (€ 18,995.39), 24% above the upper estimate. Other works by Peter Frans Casteels have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 15,600.00 (€ 22,515.21) in April 2006 for the work Roses, parrot tulips, an iris, narcissi and other flowers in a glass vase on a stone ledge.
