This artwork by Peter Cole achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Sydney in March 2006. In the THE W.R. BURGE COLLECTION auction, the work Symbols of The Sea sold for AUD 14,340.00 (€ 8,464.13) - well above the upper estimate of AUD 7,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Peter Cole; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot without title sold at auction in November 2021 with the realized price of AUD 17,220.00 (€ 15,256.49).
