Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Large tusker (c. 150 lbs per side), Tsavo North, near hunting block 33/ Ithumber Hill on the Athi-Tiva dry river (for 'The End of the Game'), February 1965 by Peter Beard was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in June this year. The price achieved of EUR 37,800.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Beard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Orphaned Cheetah Cubs, Mweiga, near Nyeri, Kenya, March 1968 in October 2017 with an auction result of USD 672,500.00 (€ 577,352.34).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 37.800,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Peter Beard erzielen.
