In April this year Bonhams held the auction Western Art, which included the work Seated Indian Chief by Percy Gray. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,462.50 (€ 4,042.12), 49% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Percy Gray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Eucalyptus Grove, Morning in June 2002 with an auction result of USD 74,090.00 (€ 75,172.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 49 % übertroffen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Western Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Seated Indian Chief von Percy Gray zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.462,50 (€ 4.042,12) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Percy Gray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Eucalyptus Grove, Morning im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 74.090,00 (€ 75.172,48).
