Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Eucalyptus by the Lake by Percy Gray was auctioned at Bonhams in Edinburgh in November this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,584.00 (€ 3,285.66). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Percy Gray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Eucalyptus Grove, Morning in June 2002 with an auction result of USD 74,090.00 (€ 75,172.48).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Eucalyptus by the Lake von Percy Gray im November diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Edinburgh versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.584,00 (€ 3.285,66) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Percy Gray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Eucalyptus Grove, Morning im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 74.090,00 (€ 75.172,48).
