Despite a disappointment, a good price for Paul Gillett
When the work The Open Door To Winter Sports by Paul Gillett was auctioned at Bonhams in London in February last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 280.50 (€ 335.36). Despite this disappointing result, The Open Door To Winter Sports is the most expensive artwork by Paul Gillett that we have observed at auction so far.
