Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
The work La ville inquiète, études by Paul Delvaux was worth GBP 133,250.00 (€ 156,957.35) to a buyer in February 2011. This price was achieved in the auction The Art of the Surreal Evening Sale at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Delvaux achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Miroir in February 2016 with an auction result of GBP 7,317,000.00 (€ 9,375,831.98).
