Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Dream I, The Last Deal by Pascale Marthine Tayou. The price achieved of GBP 37,800.00 (€ 41,973.68) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pascale Marthine Tayou - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Chalks and pins U, 2012, which sold at auction in May last year for EUR 88,575.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Dream I, The Last Deal von Pascale Marthine Tayou zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 37.800,00 (€ 41.973,68) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Pascale Marthine Tayou mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Chalks and pins U, 2012 beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für EUR 88.575,00 versteigert wurde.
