Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2019 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Cameroonian Cowboy by Pascale Marthine Tayou. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 5,250.00 (€ 6,107.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pascale Marthine Tayou achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Chalks and pins U, 2012 in May last year with an auction result of EUR 88,575.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2019 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cameroonian Cowboy von Pascale Marthine Tayou zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 5.250,00 (€ 6.107,27) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pascale Marthine Tayou erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Chalks and pins U, 2012 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 88.575,00.
