This artwork by Paolo Anesi achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in June 2004. In the Old Master Paintings auction, the work Classical figures conversing on the banks of a river sold for USD 22,705.00 (€ 18,642.75) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paolo Anesi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Anzio, A View Of The Port With The Villa Corsini And The Villa Albani in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 212,500.00 (€ 196,177.99).
