lithograph, 1945, on Arches, Mourlot's only state, Mourlot calls for 18 proofs and the signed and numbered edition of 50, inscribed '71' in pencil in the lower right margin, with margins, pale light- and time staining, very pale scattered foxing, pale surface soiling on the reverse, old glue remains at the reverse of the margin corners (slightly showing through in the upper right margin corner), otherwise in good condition, framed

It achieved a price of USD 4,182.50 (€ 3,405.94), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 39%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pablo Picasso achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Les femmes d'Alger (Version 'O') in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 179,365,000.00 (€ 163,148,080.77).

Die Arbeit Woman's Head (Mourlot 1; Bloch 375) von Pablo Picasso wurde im April 2003 in der Auktion PICASSO LITHOGRAPHS: THEMES AND VARIATIONS bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 4.182,50 (€ 3.405,94) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 39%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pablo Picasso erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Les femmes d'Alger (Version 'O') im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 179.365.000,00 (€ 163.148.080,77).
