Auction result well in line with expectations

It changed hands for a price of USD 5,700.00 (€ 4,385.29) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ottmar Elliger the Younger - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Apelles Before Alexander The Great And Campaspe, which sold at auction in September 2019 for GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,283.81).

Die Arbeit A Design For A Frontispiece With An Allegory Of Brazil von Ottmar Elliger the Younger kam im Januar 2007 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 5.700,00 (€ 4.385,29) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Ottmar Elliger the Younger mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Apelles Before Alexander The Great And Campaspe beobachtet, die im September 2019 für GBP 10.000,00 (€ 11.283,81) versteigert wurde.
