Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Frida (Icon) by Nickolas Muray was auctioned at Phillips in New York in September 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 2,500.00 (€ 1,838.10). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nickolas Muray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Selected Images Including Portraits Of Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera And Miguel Covarrubias in April 2019 with an auction result of USD 35,000.00 (€ 31,247.21).
