Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Showa era (1926-1989), circa 1960 by Munakata Shiko was sold in the Fine Chinese & Japanese Works of Art Part II auction at Bonhams in Los Angeles in December 2020. The price achieved of USD 4,462.50 (€ 3,648.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Munakata Shiko achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hakki-hi (White-skinned goddess) in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 70,500.00 (€ 81,090.41).
