The work A beauty and a mermaid by Munakata Shiko was sold in the Fine Japanese and Korean Works of Art auction at Bonhams in March this year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,462.50 (€ 4,104.58), 49% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Munakata Shiko achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hakki-hi (White-skinned goddess) in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 70,500.00 (€ 81,090.41).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 49 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit A beauty and a mermaid von Munakata Shiko wurde im März diesen Jahres in der Auktion Fine Japanese and Korean Works of Art bei Bonhams versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.462,50 (€ 4.104,58) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Munakata Shiko erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hakki-hi (White-skinned goddess) im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 70.500,00 (€ 81.090,41).
