Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Munakata Shiko could be acquired at Bonhams in New York in September 2021 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Fine Japanese and Korean Art, including the Crawford Collection of Surimono auction, the work Showa Era (1926-1989), 1952 changed hands for USD 1,530.00 (€ 1,321.59) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Munakata Shiko achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hakki-hi (White-skinned goddess) in November 2000 with an auction result of USD 70,500.00 (€ 81,090.41).
