Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Doodle Girl by Mr. Doodle was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in May 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 28,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 113,400.00 (€ 11,987.26). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mr. Doodle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Big Kitty in April last year with an auction result of HKD 6,300,000.00 (€ 761,715.86).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Doodle Girl von Mr. Doodle im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 28.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 113.400,00 (€ 11.987,26) mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mr. Doodle erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Big Kitty im April letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 6.300.000,00 (€ 761.715,86).
