In December 2010 Sothebys in Doha held the auction Hurouf: The Art of The Word, which included the work Shrine (Maqam) by Mohammed Al Shammarey. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,594.32), 46% above the upper estimate. With this result, Shrine (Maqam) is even the most expensive work of art by Mohammed Al Shammarey that we have observed at auctions so far.
