Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Games In The Sun by Michael Kenna was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in August last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 573.75 (€ 570.04). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Michael Kenna achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Six works: Kussharo Lake Tree; Incense Holders; Dusk Island Shrine; Island Shrine; Hashikui Rocks; Tree and Mountain in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 13,750.00 (€ 11,242.85).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Games In The Sun von Michael Kenna im August letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 573,75 (€ 570,04) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Michael Kenna erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Six works: Kussharo Lake Tree; Incense Holders; Dusk Island Shrine; Island Shrine; Hashikui Rocks; Tree and Mountain im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 13.750,00 (€ 11.242,85).
