Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Michael Kagan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Hong Kong in June 2021. In the Contemporary Curated: Asia | JAY CHOU x SOTHEBY’S | Day Sale auction, the work Trust the Process sold for HKD 693,000.00 (€ 75,277.77) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 250,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Michael Kagan; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot It Begins sold at auction in June last year with the realized price of HKD 1,134,000.00 (€ 137,999.43).

In der Auktion Contemporary Curated: Asia | JAY CHOU x SOTHEBY’S | Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Trust the Process für HKD 693.000,00 (€ 75.277,77) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 250.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Michael Kagan; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit It Begins im Juni letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 1.134.000,00 (€ 137.999,43).
