Despite a disappointment, a good price for Melanie le Brocquy
In October 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work Spring And Summer by Melanie le Brocquy for GBP 3,360.00 (€ 5,020.14). This price was achieved in the auction Post War and Contemporary Irish Art at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 3,500.00 – 4,500.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, Spring And Summer is the most expensive artwork by Melanie le Brocquy that we have observed at auction so far.
