Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Lines; together with a companion photograph of Juan Papaza Train Station by Pettus Kaufman, circa 1940 by Max Thorek was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,250.00 (€ 898.05).
