Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Digger by Max Kalish was sold in the American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in April 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 22,500.00 (€ 17,086.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Max Kalish - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work 'Steelworker', which sold at auction in September 2010 for USD 50,000.00 (€ 36,762.00).
