Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Creatures of the swamp by Max Ernst was sold in the THE ART OF THE SURREAL auction at Christies in London in February 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 90,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 91,750.00 (€ 149,726.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Max Ernst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le roi jouant avec la reine in November last year with an auction result of USD 24,435,000.00 (€ 23,670,444.64).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Creatures of the swamp von Max Ernst wurde im Februar 2002 in der Auktion THE ART OF THE SURREAL bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 90.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 91.750,00 (€ 149.726,93) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Max Ernst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le roi jouant avec la reine im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 24.435.000,00 (€ 23.670.444,64).
