Exécutée en 1892, cette affiche est issue d’une édition dont la taille n’est pas connue, avant l'édition imprimée en couleur sur papier de plus grande dimension signed 'Maurice Denis' in pencil (lower right) lithograph in black, on thin wove paper Sheet: 22 1/16 x 17 ¼ in. Executed in 1892, this is a proof of the key stone printed in black, before the edition in colours on a larger paper
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October this year Christies in London held the auction La Collection Sam Josefowitz: Dessins et Gravures de l'Ecole de Pont-Aven Online, which included the work Affiche pour La Dépêche de Toulouse by Maurice Denis. Here, the upper estimate of EUR 1,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for EUR 1,134.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurice Denis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Cuisinière in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 2,629,000.00 (€ 2,391,304.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion La Collection Sam Josefowitz: Dessins et Gravures de l'Ecole de Pont-Aven Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Affiche pour La Dépêche de Toulouse von Maurice Denis zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von EUR 1.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für EUR 1.134,00 einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maurice Denis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La Cuisinière im Mai 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.629.000,00 (€ 2.391.304,35).
