In the Old Master Paintings Sale auction, the work Rome: A Capriccio View Of The Tiber With The Castel Sant'Angelo, Peasants With Their Cattle On The River Banks sold for EUR 34,350.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by Mathys Schoevaerdts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A coastal scene with drovers and their herds and travellers in horse-drawn carts on a path, a harbour with shipping beyond; and An estuary with peasants in boats and along the shore, a town and shipping beyond; a pair in January 2000 with an auction result of USD 299,500.00 (€ 306,959.11).
