Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2008 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Pictures,Watercolours and Drawings, which included the work A gentleman and a peasant making a deal on the sale of a pig in a pigsty by Mattheus van Helmont. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 2,125.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mattheus van Helmont achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Villagers Celebrating A Wedding Feast Outside A Country Tavern in May 2006 with an auction result of EUR 60,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2008 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Pictures,Watercolours and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A gentleman and a peasant making a deal on the sale of a pig in a pigsty von Mattheus van Helmont zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 2.125,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mattheus van Helmont erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Villagers Celebrating A Wedding Feast Outside A Country Tavern im Mai 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 60.000,00.
