In June 2020 Sothebys in New York held the auction Old Masters, which included the work Mary Magdalene Sleeping In A Grotto, A Hilly Landscape Beyond by Master of the Prodigal Son. The auction ended at the price of USD 20,000.00 (€ 17,807.85), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Master of the Prodigal Son - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Maria mit dem Christuskind, Johannes dem Täufer und einem Pilgerknaben., which sold at auction in September 2017 for CHF 66,500.00 (€ 58,106.58).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Juni 2020 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mary Magdalene Sleeping In A Grotto, A Hilly Landscape Beyond von Master of the Prodigal Son zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 20.000,00 (€ 17.807,85) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Master of the Prodigal Son mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Maria mit dem Christuskind, Johannes dem Täufer und einem Pilgerknaben. beobachtet, die im September 2017 für CHF 66.500,00 (€ 58.106,58) versteigert wurde.
