Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Matilija Canyon by Marion Kavanaugh Wachtel was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,570.00 (€ 3,458.30). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marion Kavanaugh Wachtel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sycamores in August 2021 with an auction result of USD 72,812.50 (€ 61,705.51).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Matilija Canyon von Marion Kavanaugh Wachtel im November letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.570,00 (€ 3.458,30) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Marion Kavanaugh Wachtel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sycamores im August 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 72.812,50 (€ 61.705,51).
