Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life by Margaret Preston was sold in the AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS auction at Christies in Melbourne in May 2003. The price achieved of AUD 17,625.00 (€ 9,756.21) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Margaret Preston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Native Flowers, 1941, in April 2021 with an auction result of AUD 504,300.00 (€ 419,202.00).
