Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Preaching of Saint John the Baptist by Marcantonio Bassetti was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings auction at Christies in New York in February 2024. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,190.00 (€ 7,157.84) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Marcantonio Bassetti achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The dead Christ supported by the Virgin and Mary Magdalen in January 2003 with an auction result of USD 273,500.00 (€ 254,679.21).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Preaching of Saint John the Baptist von Marcantonio Bassetti wurde im Februar 2024 in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.190,00 (€ 7.157,84) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
