Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In November 2009 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings including Spanish Painting, The Orientalist Sale, and German, Austrian, Scandinavian and Symbolist Works, which included the work Spanish Cante Andaluz Con Sevilla Al Fondo (An Afternoon'S Amusements, Seville) by Manuel Ramírez Ibáñez. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 10,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 11,627.69). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Manuel Ramírez Ibáñez - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mujeres elegantes en Venecia (Elegant figures taking tea before the Doge's Palace, Venice), which sold at auction in June 2007 for GBP 19,200.00 (€ 28,491.83).
