Auction result well in line with expectations

The work Natural Painting by Man Ray was sold in the The Surrealist World of Rosalind Gersten Jacobs and Melvin Jacobs auction at Christies in New York in May last year. The price achieved of USD 10,710.00 (€ 9,980.43) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Man Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 in May last year with an auction result of USD 12,412,500.00 (€ 11,566,955.55).

Die Arbeit Natural Painting von Man Ray wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Surrealist World of Rosalind Gersten Jacobs and Melvin Jacobs bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 10.710,00 (€ 9.980,43) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Man Ray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.412.500,00 (€ 11.566.955,55).
