The work July Evening On Lake Ontario by Malcolm Rains was sold in the Important Canadian Art auction at Sothebys in Toronto in December 2009. The »bidding war« ended at CAD 10,800.00 (€ 7,203.27), 35% above the upper estimate. Other works by Malcolm Rains have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of CAD 16,800.00 (€ 12,062.44) in May 2011 for the work Troy.
