In November 2021 Sothebys in Milan held the auction Contemporary Art | Milan, which included the work Androgyn VII by Magdalena Abakanowicz. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 138,600.00 73% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Magdalena Abakanowicz - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Flock (12 Standing Figures, from 'Ragazzi' Cycle), which sold at auction in November 2017 for USD 480,500.00 (€ 403,849.39).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 73 % übertroffen
Im November 2021 führte Sothebys in Mailand die Auktion Contemporary Art | Milan durch, in der auch die Arbeit Androgyn VII von Magdalena Abakanowicz zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 138.600,00 und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Magdalena Abakanowicz mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Flock (12 Standing Figures, from 'Ragazzi' Cycle) beobachtet, die im November 2017 für USD 480.500,00 (€ 403.849,39) versteigert wurde.
