In August 2018 Christies in New York held the auction Close to Home: Christie's Staff Art Show, which included the work Gold City by Luis Ortiz. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,750.00 (€ 1,509.14), 17% above the upper estimate. Other works by Luis Ortiz have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,325.38) in July 2017 for the work Blue York.
