The work Design for a papal tomb (recto); Saint John and a faint sketch of a façade (verso) by Luigi Vanvitelli was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2020. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,396.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Design for a papal tomb (recto); Saint John and a faint sketch of a façade (verso) is the most expensive artwork by Luigi Vanvitelli that we have observed at auctions so far.
