The work H.M.S Superb off the entrance to the Grand Harbour, Valetta by Luigi Galea was sold in the Maritime Art auction at Christies in London in November 2010. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,838.12), 32% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Luigi Galea have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mediterranean fishing craft off the Maltese coast in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 7,285.00 (€ 11,689.74).

Die Arbeit H.M.S Superb off the entrance to the Grand Harbour, Valetta von Luigi Galea wurde im November 2010 in der Auktion Maritime Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.375,00 (€ 2.838,12) und damit 32% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Luigi Galea auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mediterranean fishing craft off the Maltese coast im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 7.285,00 (€ 11.689,74).
