In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction The European Art Sale, which included the work View of Fort Ricasoli, Malta by Luigi Galea. The »bidding war« ended at USD 8,820.00 (€ 7,635.04), 26% above the upper estimate. Other works by Luigi Galea have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of GBP 7,285.00 (€ 11,689.74) in May 2000 for the work Mediterranean fishing craft off the Maltese coast.
