Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Grand Harbour, Valetta, At Dusk by Luigi Galea was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2004. The price achieved of GBP 2,390.00 (€ 3,438.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Luigi Galea - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mediterranean fishing craft off the Maltese coast, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 7,285.00 (€ 11,689.74).
