Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The interior of the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, Rome by Ludwig Passini was sold in the Old Master and 19th Century Drawings auction at Christies in London in July 2004. The price achieved of GBP 4,541.00 (€ 6,862.45) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ludwig Passini achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Children leaping into a Venetian Canal in May 2016 with an auction result of GBP 74,500.00 (€ 97,214.64).
