In September 2003 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Pictures, which included the work Departing from the banks of the estuary by Ludwig Hermann. The price achieved of GBP 5,875.00 (€ 5,917.73) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Other works by Ludwig Hermann have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in January 2013 the work Skaters On A Frozen Waterway; And Boats On A Waterway In A Northern European Town was auctioned for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,213.49).
