This artwork by Ludmilla Pilat Welch achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in November this year. In the California and Western Art Online auction, the work Cottage in Windy Gulch Near Stinson Beach 8 x 5 in. framed 10 1/2 x 7 in. sold for USD 1,536.00 (€ 1,408.14) - well above the upper estimate of USD 800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ludmilla Pilat Welch; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Sunset on the Shore 7 x 10 in. framed 15 1/2 x 18 1/2 in. sold at auction in December last year with the realized price of USD 2,422.50 (€ 2,264.44).
