engraving, circa 1508, on laid paper, without watermark, a very good New Hollstein a-b impression, printing clearly yet warmly, with good contrasts, trimmed on the platemark but retaining a fillet of blank paper outside of the borderline on all sides, a skilfully repaired tear and small made-up paper loss in the blank sky, some other minor repairs, otherwise in good condition

Sold at the lower estimate price
In December 2019 Christies in London held the auction Old Master Prints, which included the work Saint George liberating the Princess by Lucas van Leyden. The result of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,772.82) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucas van Leyden achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Virgin and Child with two Angels in January 2019 with an auction result of USD 52,500.00 (€ 45,835.52).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Dezember 2019 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit Saint George liberating the Princess von Lucas van Leyden zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 1.500,00 (€ 1.772,82) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lucas van Leyden erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Virgin and Child with two Angels im Januar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 52.500,00 (€ 45.835,52).
