The work ‘Idyllic Neutrality’ (‘A Daily Smuggling Scene On The Dutch Belgian Frontier’) by Louis Raemaekers was sold in the The Political Cartoon Collection of Jeffrey Archer auction at Sothebys in London in March 2018. The price achieved of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,138.56) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, ‘Idyllic Neutrality’ (‘A Daily Smuggling Scene On The Dutch Belgian Frontier’) is the most expensive artwork by Louis Raemaekers that we have observed at auctions so far.
