Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings and Drawings, which included the work Study for a portrait of Gaspare Spontini (1774-1851) by Louis Hersent. The price achieved of USD 1,008.00 (€ 872.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis Hersent achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ruth Et Booz in June 2008 with an auction result of EUR 16,250.00.
