Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of GBP 1,275.00 (€ 1,470.47) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Louis François Gérard van der Puyl - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Thomas Payne (1719-1799), half-length, which sold at auction in October 2021 for USD 4,410.00 (€ 3,817.52).
