Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Louis-Emile Pinel de Grandchamp could be acquired at Sothebys in London in November 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the European Paintings including The Orientalist Sale, Symbolism and the Poetic Vision and Spanish Painting auction, the work French 'Saïs' (The Forerunner) changed hands for GBP 6,000.00 (€ 7,254.45) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis-Emile Pinel de Grandchamp achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work French The Nusretiye Mosque in April 2014 with an auction result of GBP 152,500.00 (€ 185,627.79).
